"I draw inspiration from this magic, visible or invisible, that emanates from the hotels."

“My first encounter with the Carlton Cannes was in 2023, after its re-opening. Alchemy was evident from the start: La Grande Dame has a unique aura. She knows how to welcome guests without rejecting her timelessness: her heritage endures while connecting with the present. On entering, a warm sense of familiarity envelops us, as when we meet someone dear. Everything is prepared graciously, to the very last detail. I draw inspiration from this magic, visible or invisible, that emanates from the hotel. From a car valet’s gesture to perfect coffee, each detail bears witness to discreet but palpable know-how. This is this essence I try to convey in my illustrations. Just like the Carlton Cannes, they reflect what we perceive and what unfurls through an ambiance, a composition, and subtle details. Bears in livery in an enchanted garden, flying boats, a seaplane whirling around the pontoon, or seagulls symbolizing airiness, each scene tells a story like a key to interpretation. My work is thus part of the continuity of the hotel’s visual legacy. We recently discovered graphic archives dating back to different eras, and it is fascinating to realise that I am participating in this illustrated page. One day, other artists will take up the torch and recompose the soul of the Carlton Cannes in their turn. With this same artistic vision: to capture emotion, magnify the fine art of living, and offer, in just one glance, a share of enchantment.”
