"A fan of history, I never do better than when restoring an aura of legendary splendour by studying its past… To absorb the Carlton's personality, I stepped back in time, learnt what guests love, interviewed the staff… I first entered the hotel 7 years ago to begin the project, feeling intimidated, awkward. I saw it as a Sleeping Beauty in need of love…
I strove to give it all of mine, take its vital energy to lofty heights. I roamed the region for inspiration, taking notes, admiring fragrances, nuances in the light… The spark was lit one sunny afternoon in the Maeght Foundation gardens, where time stood still in the artistic Golden Age of a flamboyant Riviera. Enthralled by its force, my gaze fell on a eucalyptus leaf.
The future theme of the Carlton Cannes: soft powdery rose, fresh pale green, chic light grey, sublime colours now embellishing the hotel, especially the bar in raku ceramic from the village of Mouans-Sartoux. We then reorganized everything in pure, transparent materials (onyx, marble, stucco…), opened spaces to create a flow, all complementary and naturally reinforced: lobby, restaurant, bars, VIP lounge, garden…
Underlying this vision, each space is part of cinematic sequencing. Once inside, beauty becomes part of you, composing the story you want to experience: fervent, moving, calm, vibrant… Minimalist decor in rooms basking in sunlight, the blue of sea and sky… Intimacy attains new heights: entwined on the 'love seat' near the window, contemplate the scenery, intense, divine. A dream come true. I am happy to have fulfilled my mission as a valet at the service of the 'Grande Dame', creator of bliss and eternal souvenirs."
